This week in Year 5 and 6 we used our scientific skills to follow instructions and then evaluate the investigation.  We extracted DNA from strawberries!  First, we mashed the strawberries and then mixed it with water, washing-up liquid and salt.  Next, we filtered the concoction until only liquid remained.  Finally, we carefully added ice-cold surgical spirits and white threads of strawberry DNA appeared!  It was such an exciting experiment.  Next week we will discuss how to improve the instructions.
